“Please chill your bean”

Words said while chopping carrots & running the world

My partner and I were making dinner together and I was telling him about the convo with my mum about her washing machine but then also asked him to feed the cat and suggested we also get a different accountant, “do-y’know-one?”, and also “hey, I love this song”.

He stopped chopping carrots and looked at me,

“Please chill your bean.”

That’s another way of saying, please help your nervous system get back into balance cos your head is now running wild.

Too much fast-talk, fast-do and it just don’t stop.

When everything is ON, my body and mind start to feel like they’re getting wound tighter and tighter.

Actually, he was right.

It didn’t feel good for him and it ultimately didn’t feel good for me either.

What’s behind that fast-talk and fast-do?

Parts.

Parts who are trying to help me by…

Getting everything done.
Being in control.
Staying ahead of the game.
Achieve, perfectly
Making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

These parts mean well, but they give me a nervous tick after too long.

Aside from some good Internal Family Systems work, there are a few great things that can be the needed chill pill.

One thing that does WONDERS for the nervous system and for slowing down the mind is

Alio Die. 🎵

When you play this soundscape-y music, something slows down in the mind. It becomes more still. Spacious.

You can just have it in the background while you’re chopping carrots for dinner.

Or putting the house back together after a big week.

Or working.

It’ll help bring back grounding and soften your mind.

Exhale…
