How to be decisive (+ trust your decisions)
Being decisive was never one of my gifts.
I used to like to blame it on being Pisces — just look: one fish is going up, one fish is going down. They’re choosing this *and* that!
But whatever the reason, whenever I had to choose something, I’d think WAY too much about whether I should or shouldn’t do the thing.
And then…
After choosing to do the thing, I’d wonder was it the right decision afterall? Maybe I should have chosen the other way…
Ermmm…
So much thinking and spinning in my head.
So much energy going in this direction and that, not allowing me to move with momentum in THIS direction.
And while I was thinking about it, I was filled with anxiety, unable to fully enjoy the choice with ease and trust.
My Bwiti Missoko mentor Apollon dropped a truth bomb about this that forever changed my (Pisces?) indecision.
He said, “I never make decisions”.
A confused frown took over my face.
Apollon is *the* most intelligent person I’ve ever met, extremely capable and succeeding in his work.
How is it possible that a man as accomplished and genius as he is doesn't make decisions?
Seeing my wrinkled brow, he elaborated…
With love,
Caitlyn
P.S. Being indecisive can also be a protection mechanism. What is that indecisive part afraid would happen if you did just decide and commit?
If you want to explore this and help that part feel more free and safe to commit, let’s work together online in 1:1 mindful-somatic sessions informed by Internal Family Systems.
